This year two of the six awards from WWA 2013, for World Whiskies Awards (organized by WhiskyMagazine), have been attributed to Japanese whiskies! The World's best blended whisky 2013 for the Suntory Hibiki 21 years and the World's best blended malt whisky 2013 for the Hombo Shuzo Mars Maltage "3plus25" 28 years.
The results of the World Whiskies Awards 2013 were announced last night at the Waldorf Hotel Hilton in London during the awards presentation dinner. Again Japanese whiskies have won two awards which reinforces the recognition of Japanese know-how in the world of whiskies and especially in the art of blending.
Concerning Suntory and its Hibiki 21 years, this award is a consecration, as this is the third time he gets the award after 2010 and 2011.
However, and that is a surprise, no prize for Nikka this year but the best blended malt in the world is still japanese as it was assigned to the 28 years old Hombo Shuzo Mars Maltage "3plus25". Distilled and bottled in Shinshu, a small japanese distillery, with this new awareness it should now be able to get a small place on the world whisky market.
