Chichibu

Ichiro Akuto, grand-son of the founder of Hanyu distillery, decided in 2007 to build a new whisky distillery 100 kilometers northwest of Tokyo, in the city of Chichibu. Located near the old Hanyu distillery, where the local climate with rough winters and hot and humid summers, provides maturity to the whiskies produced in Chichibu despite their young age (production started in 2008). Small distillery, Chichibu produces in small quantities, but the remaining stocks of Hanyu, Kawasaki and Karuisawa hosted on site allow Ichiro Akuto to offer rare and exceptional malt whiskies.
